About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Barra House is a supported living home for adults with autism spectrum and other conditions, in Wem, Shrewsbury. Our aim is to support people to achieve their goals, participate in meaningful activities and become more self-sufficient, building on their skills. The team use person-centred support plans that are tailored to each persons individual needs and focus on positive outcomes.

People are supported to be as independent as they possibly can, and to take part in leisure activities as well as any educational and/or employment placements. The team at Barra House receive Autism Awareness training.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Barra House is a spacious home land has two bedrooms; one en-suite bedroom located on the first floor and one bedroom located on the ground floor with access to a bathroom. There is a communal kitchen/dining area along with a lounge, which is ideal for socialising.

There is a space upstairs that can be used as a second lounge or a quiet area for relaxing in.

The garden can be accessed from the lounge and from the ground-floor bedroom.

There is Wi-Fi throughout, as well as satellite TV.

The home is located close to the station and is a short walk to Wem town centre and its attractions, which include museums, pubs, restaurants and sports clubs.

Ideal for individuals or a couple.

Lifestyle

People living at Barra House are supported to participate in a wide range of activities, these include cooking and meal planning, budgeting and money-saving courses.

Leisurely activities are popular with people swimming, and enjoying a range of sports centre activities, meals out, shopping, and trips on the canal.

People are also regularly supported to go on day trips and holidays
