Ambleside Lodge is a residential home supporting adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions and behaviours that may challenge. Ambleside supports and educates individuals by enabling and empowering them to take greater control over their lives and to make their own decisions and choices.

Ambleside supports each individual to take advantage of opportunities available both at home and in the wider community to maximise independence and learn new or improve on existing skills. Person-centred plans will be developed that are focused on positive outcomes. People are supported to achieve their goals and lead a life that is full and enjoyable in the way most meaningful to them.

What we offer

The property is an 8-bed detached house with communal living space and a small quiet/sensory room on the first floor. The home is very vibrant and is focused on the needs of the individual. The garden also has a sensory/activities cabin that can be accessed.

Ambleside Lodge has various communal areas so people can socialise with others, including a communal lounge, dining room and visitors room where individuals can watch television or play games on the X-box. The communal kitchen is accessible to everyone with team support and can be utilised to develop cooking skills. The home has seven en-suite bedrooms and one self-contained flat on the top floor.

There is a trampoline in the garden and a sensory cabin, which provides additional space and activities for people we support, including a touch screen computer. The home is conveniently located for transport links, with a train station nearby and a bus stop at the front of the property.

Lifestyle

Each person has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes to ensure that they participate in meaningful activities, both within the home and in the community. The team can also look into any other activities that someone wants to take part in that are not currently on offer. Individuals can access local colleges for adults with learning disabilities, including Crawley and East Surrey Colleges and also attend Day Space, a small, modern-day centre providing a variety of activities.

People utilise their travel skills to go shopping and visit the library in Horley. Sometimes, they visit properties owned by the National Trust, to which they all have a membership. Other activity options include horse riding, a range of swimming pools including a wave pool, bowling, trips to the cinema, pubs and restaurants, line dancing and the Gateway and Moving Barriers Clubs, both held at K2, a large leisure centre in Crawley.

Ambleside has weekly visits from a musician who provides music sessions, and a chiropodist attends every six weeks.
