People we support are really encouraged by their support teams to exercise and play sport as a way of keeping fit and healthy but also integrating into the local community. D, J and A who live in Brighton & Hove are all keen boxers. They attend weekly boxing sessions and enjoy it. In the past, they have performed at charity boxing events and this week they did exactly that.
They went to the Hilton Hotel in Brighton where they competed in a boxing match in front of hundreds of people. The legendary boxer Frank Bruno attended as the fight was in aid of his charity, the Frank Bruno Foundation, which aims to use boxing and exercise as a way of helping to alleviate mental ill health, as well as to ending the stigma behind it. 12 matches of boxing were played, with athletes of all ages and all abilities competing, including wheelchair boxing.
It was an amazing and fun evening, with D, J and A even getting to meet and chat to Frank Bruno, which was an amazing experience for them. Also a massive thank you to their trainer, Fit Edd, who helped the boys get ready for their big fight and for their support workers who encouraged and supported them all the way.
Huge congratulations to D, J and A!
