Ashton’s Football Success

With a bit of encouragement and a lot of passion, Ashton couldn’t be happier doing what he loves most.

Ashton lives in Hampshire at one of our enhanced supported living services for people who are D/deaf and communicate using British Sign Language. He’s a huge Liverpool football fan and likes to watch and support the team – he’s even painted his room bright red to show his love for them!

Ashton is very passionate about the game and enjoys playing virtual online football matches. He shares this interest with one of our team members, Adam, who has been a goalkeeper for England’s Deaf team and plays for Lymington Town FC as a goalkeeper.

Adam started encouraging Ashton to give football a try as it’s a great way to get outdoors, meet new people and do something physical. Although Ashton was a little hesitant at first, as he’d been feeling a little low since the Covid-19 pandemic, with the help of Adam he eventually agreed to take the plunge and give it a go.

One month on and now Ashton is a valued member of Eastleigh football team and plays every week! Not only has he scored a goal but he’s also met likeminded people with varied levels of abilities.

Ashton is so happy he joined the team and looks forward to playing football matches.

Well done Ashton and a big thanks to our team!
