Celebrating Christmas and New Year in style

Read on to find out what one of our homes has been up to over the festive period

The people we support at a home in Kent have been very busy recently and really got into the festive spirit over Christmas and New Year.

In the run up to Christmas, they held a Christmas banquet and movie nights.

The people we support decorated the house with Christmas decorations, tinsel and cards, candles. Their theme was ‘White Christmas’ and so the house was decorated with tinsel, white reindeer, white candles and white baubles, with a sprinkling of silver here and there. Staff cooked the people we support a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings; turkey, sprouts, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets.

For New Years Eve they had a movie night where they watched the new Lion King film as well as Aladdin- they couldn’t decide which they liked more! They built  a fort out of cushions and sheets, turned off all the lights and made the home into a movie theatre!

Given that they loved the banquet dinner on new years day, staff and individuals at the home decided to repeat this for their New Year’s celebrations. Another banquet dinner, this time with a dress up theme, happened.

Sounds like everyone had a lovely time! Happy new year to everyone!
