Remembrance Day
November 8th brought us Remembrance Sunday and the 11th was Remembrance Day. And even though this November was very different to most due to COVID-19, the people we support got into the spirit of things.
Bowermount Road worked together to decorate their wall with a Remembrance Day mural.
The people at Ty Coedwig got creative with their poppies and made it into a cross to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Sandylee House and Acres View got creative and made little Poppy Soldiers for their window as well as some colouring and home decorations.
Honeywood made some commemorative arts and crafts. They were also supported to observe the 2 minutes silence to pay their respects to those that lost their lives at war.
Chetwynd Road’s Science Night
The people at Chetwynd Road put their ‘Einstein’ hats on and enjoyed some cool experiments. Everyone got involved!
First up, they did a pepper and soap trick. To do this they put pepper on top of the water and then put their finger into a little bit of soap. When you put your finger in the water, the pepper moves away. This highlighted the importance of washing hands! You can see more resources about that here.
Next, they did a trick with some skittles and water. It took a few minutes to work but as you can see, the colouring runs from the skittles and makes a rainbow. They enjoyed this one a lot.
Finally, they made a volcano, with vinegar and sodium bicarbonate. Sophie enjoyed helping the staff to decorate this and everyone then sat around the table to watch.
Cwrt-Y-Bella’s Activities
Our Welsh services Cwrt-Y-Bella kept busy throughout November. Pre-lockdown, Amanda had a great time visiting Caerphilly Castle.
Since lockdown, Alex celebrated his birthday in style with a party at the service with his housemates.
Harwich House’s Clean Up
Over at Harwich House, they decided to have a good tidy up. We reckon now might just be the perfect time for it!
Ty Coedwig’s Achievements
Congratulations to Alex at Ty Coedwig who passed his Football Leaders Award for coaching football!
And a big well done to those of you who took part in a zoom cooking class.
Christmas Celebrations Have Begun!
