About this home

Newbridge Hill is a specialist residential home, without nursing, in the Lower Weston area of Bath that provides 24-hour support to five adults. People we support are deaf, with additional complex needs, including learning disabilities. Our expert team is also able to support people whose previous placements may have broken down due to their complex needs.

Our team is focused on empowering people to be as independent as possible. Many of the Achieve together team members are either Deaf or have hearing loss themselves. All of our team members use British Sign Language (BSL) as well as a range of other strategies to communicate with people in their preferred way, and we promote positive risk-taking so that each person has the freedom and choice to make the most of their life.

Every d/Deaf person we support has unique needs and goals. That’s why every care and support package we offer is fully tailored to the person. We learn about a person’s health, physical and emotional needs, how they want to be supported, and their goals and interests. We then pull out all the stops to support them to achieve their aims.

What we offer

Newbridge Hill is in the Lower Weston area of Bath and is set in a large Victorian house with five bedrooms. The home has a large living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom, two showers, three toilets and a laundry room. There’s a lovely south-facing garden and even two cats to care for.

Newbridge Hill is part of a larger complex that offers a variety of support and housing, all designed to empower people to take greater steps towards independence. From Lower Weston, there’s a good bus service into Bath, where there’s a variety of different shops, cinemas, restaurants, cafés and pubs, plus great transport links.

Lifestyle

Newbridge Hill may be a person’s home for a short or a long time, depending on their needs and goals. Some people are focused on living more independently in the near future while others want to develop their daily living skills so they can do more for themselves, including shopping, cleaning, using public transport or going to work or college.

We believe that being d/Deaf, deafblind or having hearing loss shouldn’t be a barrier to a person achieving their goals. That’s why we provide person-centred support that focuses on what people we support want and like.

Everyone we support has a care and support plan, which is regularly reviewed so the person and everyone involved in their care understand what’s important to them, their preferred method of communication, and what they want to achieve.
