March Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Andrew Makinson for becoming our latest Employee of the Month

Andrew has shown true dedication and support in recent months to two people we support during their hospital stays. In his role as Support Worker he has been a strong advocate for the first person supported, who has complex needs. He challenged the hospital staff on medication, guiding them through what to do when the person we support had a seizure. Throughout this he maintained good communication with his manager, often staying late to ensure consistency of care.

The second person in hospital was supported by Andrew to alleviate their anxieties around procedures. He managed to support them to have a cannula fitted and a lumbar puncture, balancing their needs and routines with those of the hospital. All of the above show a commitment to the health and wellbeing of people he supports.

What fantastic outcomes – thank you, Andrew.

 Runners Up

Duncan Bain, Support Worker at Thornton Gate is nominated by a colleague for his consistently cheerful demeanour. “He lights up everyone’s life,” says Team member, Thomas Murphy. “Duncan is always happy, a real character and a great person to be on shift with. He lightens the mood of any stressful situations.”

ICE Chuenkerdlarp’s tech knowledge has been invaluable to Team Members and people supported at the home in which he works. “He is one of the people who goes above and beyond to ensure people we support not only have fulfilling days but also captures memories,” says activities co-ordinator, Craig Metcalf.

ICE’s moving and emotional video of an activity at Milford on Sea summed up the efforts of support team members. It also demonstrated the enjoyment of those supported.
