We recently celebrated our Annual Staff Awards with a special Gala dinner at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in London. It was an amazing evening, with an inspiring ceremony honouring everyone’s achievements, followed by music, celebration and dancing afterwards.
It was a really heart-warming event, with everyone feeling proud and excited at their own and others’ achievements.
42 awards were handed out in total, presented by myself with the help of Sue Donley, our HR Director. I am so proud to be part of such a caring organisation, with staff who dedicate their time and effort to helping others fulfil their maximum potential.
All the winners and runners up are listed below at the end of this blog.
Here are just a few examples of the awards which were won:
Manager of The Year
1st place: Simon Dumagnee from Burlington Street
Simon joined a service going through a very difficult time. Since then, he has stabilised and turned around a difficult situation with resilience and dedication to the project. Simon’s values and honest leadership skills have created a more positive, polite and professional team, which has since lead to a better reputation and level of quality.
Support worker of the year
1st place went to: Sithembiso Manzini from Goldstone Road
Sithembiso has worked with the company now for over 15 years. It goes without saying that she is dedicated and passionate about the individuals she supports. Not only does she provide the best care possible, but Sithembiso also has a heart of passion and love, which shines through each time she walks through the door. The people she supports have been provided with a wonderful and supportive environment which is safe and happy for each of them to thrive in. The families of each person have always spoken highly of Sithembiso and are extremely happy with the care she provides.
Team of the year
1st place went to: Chandon
The Chandon team have been described as a ‘loving family’ and their service and care are commendable. The whole team is extremely dedicated to the high dependency people they care for and support them every day, to lead full and fulfilling lives. The parents of someone they support, who sadly passed away this year, said “The end of life care given by the team was exemplary throughout – every member gave of themselves in an extraordinary way and are our ‘Team of the year’’.
Achieve together award – reflecting the values and ethos of Achieve Together
The confidence of the team at Hilltop allows and fosters individual creativity and innovation. This is seen in approaches such as the design and creation of sensory smell cushions in colours appropriate to the smells (lemon and peppermint) made by staff for bespoke use for one individual. This home and the leadership are a credit to Achieve together. Someone noted Hilltop to be “The most impressive care home that they have come across in over 20 years.”
This year we also had a Selfie competition where we asked our guests to tag #Achievetogether on social media. It was great to see all the selfies! Congratulations to Jamylee Colyer (Regional manager from Wales) for winning a bottle of champagne for her selfie!
