The staff gave a talk to the people they support about the significance of poppies and how they are used to remember and honour those who died fighting for our country in the world wars. People were shown poppies and told about their history and relevance to Remembrance Sunday.

A staff member then drew the outline of a soldier and the people they support drew and coloured poppies, decorating and surrounding the image of the soldier.

Next, everybody collected empty plastic bottles, cut them up and sprayed them red to create their own poppies. The poppies are now displayed in vases around the house as a reminder and everyone is looking forward to paying their respects on Sunday. It’s nice to see how this tradition is being remembered and that the people we support are so involved.
