About this home

Acorn Park Lodge is a residential home in Redruth for adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and other concurrent complex needs. The service aims to provide bespoke support centred on individual needs, focusing on developing independence, life skills, communication and social skills.

People are supported in taking part in meaningful social and leisure activities, as well as any education and/or work placements. We provide continuity and consistency of support by experienced support workers chosen with the individual’s involvement. Team members are available 24 hours a day, including waking night support and 1:1 specific support when required.

What we offer

Acorn Park Lodge is a large detached property with nine bedrooms across three floors. There are also a number of communal areas so people can socialise with others if they wish to, including a kitchen, living area and dining room.

Situated on the outskirts of Redruth, Acorn Park Lodge is ideally located for the benefit of the people we support, their families and other multi-professionals. Redruth rail station is a ten-minute walk away, and there is easy access to the A30, with Truro and Treliske Hospital being only a 15-minute drive.

The town has all the facilities you would expect from a medium-sized commercial town, including a cinema and a wide range of shops and restaurants and the town centre is within easy walking distance. Redruth has easy access to many of Cornwall’s beaches, as well as being only 20 minutes away from the cathedral city of Truro.

Lifestyle

People at Acorn Park Lodge are supported in a range of domestic activities in order to increase independence, including budget planning, meal planning and preparation, shopping, laundry and housework.

Additionally, people are supported with social and leisure activities, which can enrich the lives of individuals and increase both social and communication skills. These can include painting and crafts workshops, music workshops, cinema and theatre trips, pub outings and meals out at restaurants, bowling and any other activities the individual requests.

The service regularly goes on day trips, such as to the Cornwall’s nearby beaches, and are supported to go on any holidays they wish to. Carn Brae Leisure Centre is only a couple of miles from the service and provides a range of sporting activities, including a large swimming pool.
