About this home

Orchard View is a residential home in Rochester for adults with autism spectrum conditions and complex needs, including behaviours that may challenge. Orchard View uses an outcome-focused model, supporting people to become more independent.

The support team provide full and inclusive support planning, map care needs and undertake risk assessments. People are supported to live active lives and to learn domestic, social and practical skills. The team are available 24 hours a day, including to support waking nights.

What we offer

Orchard View is a large detached house in a quiet residential area. There are five bedrooms, a shower room and toilet on the ground floor and a further five bedrooms with two bathrooms and a separate toilet on the first floor.

There are communal areas for people to socialise with others if they wish, including a spacious lounge, dining room and kitchen area. Additionally, there is a large garden which is used a lot for social activities during the summer months.

The ideal location of the home provides great access to local facilities, such as shops, restaurants and pubs. There are also excellent transport links such as trains and buses to nearby towns, including the historic city of Rochester, Maidstone, London and South East Coastal resorts.

Lifestyle

At Orchard View, people are supported in taking part in a range of activities in their community boosting confidence and social communication skills. This includes football, cinema, swimming, and local clubs such as music, drama and arts and crafts.

People are also supported to grow skills that will support their independence, such as personal care, cleaning, laundry, shopping and meal preparation.

One person has experimented with new hobbies, including golf and has even travelled to the other side of the world for a family wedding. He completed a cookery course and now regularly cooks for his housemates.

The home also holds regular events where family and friends get involved in the event, with a BBQ, picnic food, an egg and spoon race, and a football penalty shoot-out. Everyone has a great time!
